Supporting the development of futures literacy is EdTech\u2019s next big challenge<\/strong>. It’s a truly international effort. According to UNESCO, Futures literacy is the skill of using thinking and imagination to anticipate various opportunities, options, and possibilities that might happen in the future based on our existing knowledge and current reality.\u00a0In other words, it\u2019s a learned ability that helps people think their way out of bad times.<\/p>\n

“We can all undergo training and achieve this competence. As a skill, it is no different from learning to read or write since thinking and imagination are human capabilities,” said Associate Professor Dr. Natcha Thawesaengskulthai, Global Chief Innovation Officer of Thailand\u2019s Chulalongkorn University. “Such skills will enable us to anticipate future events and occurrences to be prepared with the strategies to better deal with them, prioritize, and make the necessary decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n

The UNESCO Global Futures Literacy Network<\/a> is active in institutions in several countries, including Chulalongkorn University, where it houses the CU Innovation Hub and the CU Social Innovation as cross-disciplinary platforms for students and researchers to come together with their creativity to problem-solve using various methods and innovations.<\/p>\n

Public school websites are tools parents, students, education workers, and community members rely on<\/strong> to ensure access to taxpayer-funded resources governed by elected officials. Monsido, powered by CivicPlus, a web governance platform, released the 2022 version of their website benchmark for the top 50 largest school districts in the United States. The benchmark report found that school districts lag behind content quality assurance.<\/p>\n

The 2022 scan results were compared with the 2021 results.<\/p>\n

In 2021, the Content Quality category results showed that most school district websites scored in the “Poor” category. In 2022, the industry benchmark score continued to lag behind and decreased by 6.5 points, scoring even lower in the “Fail” category.<\/p>\n
